  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Full description:

The subject provides elementary knowledge on the use of criminal analysis in the work of the Police. The student is able to apply the forms and methods of criminal analysis, use them to create investigative versions based on evidence in a criminal trial.

After completing the course and confirming the achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, the student knows the basic concepts related to criminal analysis and defines their relationships with other areas of the investigation, knows what the role of criminal analysis in the detection process is and connects it with the relevant operational procedures, can analytically interpret available evidence, combine information and use it in the construction of the investigative version, is able to correctly formulate conclusions at various stages of the criminal analysis. The student knows analytical techniques.

In addition, the student will learn the basic terminology used in forensic procedures in the aspect of the analysis of evidence used in a criminal trial.

Selected program content:

• Analysis of the significance of the collected traces and evidence in the criminal trial.

• Developing a criminal analysis for the purposes of criminal proceedings.

• Analysis of the collected traces and evidence on the example of selected crimes.

• Formulating investigative versions based on the developed conclusions and using them in the detection process.
