This course offers introduction to issue from theoretical and practical perspectives.

We recognise criminology as science with roots and relationship with law, forensic medicine, biological science, sociology, psychology, rehabilitation or economy and related sciences: like criminalistic, penology or wiktymology. Students will familiarized themselves in fundamental theory and trends in criminology: from classical to neoclassical, dependencies between community and crime, the concept of division of different type of crime.

The course make use of wide range of case studies to provide students with authentic documents and instruments from courts and probation office. It also introduces students to issues related with anallysis of risk assesments as well as risk classification, including court decisions, parole boards and diagnosis of psychologist and psychiatriest.

After the course student will gain basic understanding of criminology, he/she will be able to indicate and describe theory and trends in crimilogy, determining factors of crime in XXI society.

Further students will be also able to combine theory with practice, especially in diagnosis of ofenders, description of the different types of offenders and will enhance their knowledge about specific situation of victims in local communities.
