Aims of the course:

1. Laws and terms which allow biophysical description of processes in vivo and in environment.

2. Understanding the impact of selected physical exogenous factors on the human body, with particular emphasis on their importance in the selection of therapy and diagnostic methods in connection with the need to protect the patient and medical staff.

3. Understanding physical ground methods used in physical therapy and diagnostics.

4. Acquiring and perfecting the ability to describe the impact of physical factors on human body, using skills to conduct calculations and determine the values of specific biophysical and physical parameters.

5. The importance of precision and rectitude while making measurements and interpreting of results.

6. Developing skills of responsible cooperation and communication in professional relations and using the basic terminology in the area of biophysics suitable for the recipient.

Learning outcomes:

1. Human as biomechanical system – conditions of balance, elasticity of tissues, Young module of bone tissues measurements.

2. Elements of biophysics of vascular system, biophysics properties of blood vessels and blood.

3. Biophysics of vascular system, measurements of basic parameters of working vascular system model and bronchial parameters of a student.

4. Influence of physical factors on human body: composition atmospheric air and its pressure, temperature, gravity, electromagnetic radiance. Measurements of thermal electromagnetic radiation.

5. Nuclear radiation and methods of its demodulation. Roentgen radian and its role in medicine.

6. Mechanical waves and their input of human body; infrasound and ultrasounds. Biophysics of hearing.

7. Using ultrasonography to measure abdominal organs.

8. Noise and vibration. Measuring the vibration threshold.

9. Biophysics of the sight.
