  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Full description:

Aims of the course:

1. the presentation of basic terminology regarding market organisation and relations between market participants;

2. the development of the ability to the assessment of the functioning of the market mechanism;

3. the development of the ability to analyse economic phenomena from the consumer’s perspective, with the application of economic theory;

4. the acquisition of the ability to make rational decisions from the customer’s perspective;

5. the realization that there is a need for continuous self-education and development of the habit of searching for information during the process of analysis of economic phenomena.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge – a student knows and understands:

1. has a basic knowledge about the types of market structures, institutions and entities;

2. can indicate their elements and connections on the micro, meso and macroeconomic scale.

Skills – a student is able to:

3. is able to observe and properly interpret economic phenomena on the micro, meso and macroeconomic scale and in the circumstances of the open economy;

Social skills – a student is ready to:

4. is aware of the complexity of processes occurring in the modern global economy;

5. is able to: independently assess socio-economic phenomena (also in a historical perspective), formulate his/her conclusions about these phenomena, conduct substantive discussion, present his/her views and defend the line of argumentation.
